Powertrain field
Piston rings are important parts that control lubricating oil while maintaining airtightness in cylinders. They are used in parts of engines that operate at high speeds, and must be highly precise and durable.
Cylinder liners are important functional parts that are integrated with engine blocks and part of combustion chambers. TPR was the first company in the world to successfully develop and mass-produce AZLOC® liners at low cost, for cast-wrap liners for aluminum engine blocks.
Our major sintered products include valve seats and valve guides. They provide base and stem support for the engine intake and exhaust valves, respectively, and must be highly durable and precise. It is important to select powder metallurgical materials that are highly resistant to wear and heat.
Frontier field
TPR continues to develop increasingly enhanced products through leveraging the seal technologies we have developed in the piston ring field (our expertise in sliding characteristics and wear resistance) and applying these mechanisms in developing rubber and resin products.
With the automotive industry now in a once-in-a-century period of change, we continue to develop CASE compatible technologies and new products. We have also leveraged the technologies we have developed for diverse materials in developing proprietary surface treatment methods to provide added value.
We have begun manufacturing nanoporous materials and long small-layer carbon nanotubes (CNT), and continue to develop materials and composite products to meet the needs of our customers.
